HACHACHE HISTORY

Jamil Hachache is the father of Salim Hachache

Jamil Hachache, the elder son of Mousbah Hachache, was born in 1898 in Beirut, Lebanon.

At the age of six, his father died and his uncle Ibrahim became his step father.

He was educated at the Mohamed Abbas High School. At the age of sixteen, he graduated with honor with a B.A degree.

His ambition was to continue his studies either at the faculty of law or at the faculty of medicine. At that time his uncle died and the first world war started in 1914.

Jamil became the only person responsible to take care of his mother, his two brothers and five sisters.

He started working at the Lebanese Syrian rail road known as D.H.P.

In 1922, he got married to Hind Shukair and became father of one girl Jamile and four boys: Anis, Fouad, Salim and Salah.

In 1931, he joined the Anzaroute Bank then the Zilkha bank which is known later as the Lebanese Exchange Company.

Few Years later he became one of the top managers.

Jamil Hachache had a high reputation, he was considered as a reference in many fields a consultant as well as an auditor. Many enterprise’s owners use to call on him for consultations.

He was a member of many welfare societies.

His philosophy was to respect every person in order to be respected by the others. Also he believed in the education which is the best protection for the world. He tried all his best to educate his children at the best schools in Beirut, starting with Zahrat Al Ihsan, the Makassed, The I.C. and then A.U.B.

By 1963 Jamil Hachache became a grand father of thirteen boys and girls. He died in 1965 with a big smile on his face as usual.

The famous Ghandour old building was built with sand stones, one hundred years ago. It was destroyed in 1974 to give birth the Ain El-Mirayse Corniche.

This celebrated house with its red top of bricks, and its five arches over a long balcony over the rocks of the Mediterranean Sea, was a symbol of Beirut.

Many publishers put the picture of this house in many magazines, books and posters, as the beauty of the old architecture.
